Synopsis

Nikolai Malinin, who is already over thirty, married a young girl Katia. He has a son Sergey from his first marriage. Sergey is in his hard times, because he loves his father and his parent’s divorce was a sad blow to him. He has to live in turns with his mother and father. But all his youthful ardor and hate pours out on Katia. He hates her savagely. In his father presence he always gives her an icy reception, behaves indifferently and expressly politely. But in private he is rude to her and gets on her nerves. She tries to repulse him, but it’s not so easy to do it when you’re dealing with a teenager. Nikolai tries to reconcile his young wife and his son.

Tamara is the first Nikolai’s wife, and she does not encourage his methods of upbringing. She believes that Nikolai cajoles their son and buys his love. It is a source of constant conflicts with her son and ex-husband. Sergey struggles to cope with both parents.

That situation could last forever, but one of the trips to the country changed Sergey’s attitude to Katia once and for all. By accident he saw Katia in the shower. From that very moment he could not take her as his parent’s rival anymore. From now on she attracted him as a woman.

When Nikolai went in a business trip, Sergey and Katia were left home alone. And their relations change radically. Katia was upset with her job and Nikolai’s departure, and Sergey started a frank conversation, passions ran high and Sergey kissed her for the first time. Maybe, everything could come to nothing more than that kiss, but, unexpectedly for them both, Katia returned his feeling.

In Nikolai’s absence happened something unbelievable – Katia and Sergey fell in love with each other. Their past hostility transformed into passionate love. But when Nikolai returns, everything has to return to the usual order of things, but it is impossible. Sergey asks Katia to leave her husband. It’s too hard for him to see her with his father. She promises to talk to him after some important corporative feast.

But Nikolai learns about their relationship from other people what leads to a violent quarrel between father and his son. Nikolai does not want to see him anymore, and he is going to take him to his mother. On their way to Tamara they got in the car accident. Sergey breaks his arm and Nikolai is taken to the resuscitation department in a grave condition.

Despite of Sergey’s appeals Katia stays with his father and tends him every day. But being with unloved, being tormented by a feeling of guilt and being reproached by him all the time, made her life unbearable. After some time, she asks Nikolai for divorce and confesses to him that she is pregnant, and the father of her future child is Sergey.

But Nikolai isn’t going to let her go, it is his revenge.

One day Sergey agrees to take Tamara to the hospital to visit Nikolai. He drives her there, but he does not want to see his father. Leaving the hospital he runs into Katia. They have a talk, and, finally, they are kissing.

Tamara sees them from the window. She says nothing to Nikolai, she just keeps tending him. And it becomes clear that Nikolai will stay with her.
