Synopsis |
The film was selected to be the official Ukrainian selection in the best Foreign Film category to compete for the 2007 Oscars. Chernobyl disaster is the biggest ecocatastrophe of the XX century. Yet the movie “Aurora” is not about the accident itself - it is the tragedy of the humankind, presented through the life story of the 12-years-old orphan Aurora Nedelina, a girl from Chernobyl who accidentally became the witness of the explosion and fire at the Chernobyl APP. Having received a critical dose of radiation, Aurora was sent to one of the American hospitals where she met the rich American Russian, Nick Astakhov – the world-famous dancer who had emigrated from the USSR 15 years ago and had now transferred all his hatred of the Soviet regime on our little heroine. The relationships between these two foreigners in America became the basis of this story. Nick is talented, successful, young, yet disappointed in life, and Aurora is fading away with each day, but she has so much joy for life that with her optimism, she is able to bring him back the appreciation of each of the precious moments. |
