It was an ordinary party, one of many for the group of artists who this time were celebrating the acquisition of new car by Philip Mahov. Maria’s, Philip’s wife, sensed something wrong in the air: “You were looking at her, like a man, you don’t look at me like that any more” – she said to her husband about his best friend’s wife. Few days later the best friend – Alexei Judin – left for the exhibition abroad. His beautiful wife was left alone at home. But was she lonely?..

The lovers used the opportunity and escaped for a few days away from the city. But weekend “honeymoon” had its consequences – Anna Judina is pregnant. Philip Mahov had to make tough decision – to stay with mentally weak wife or to take off with best friend’s wife. Twice betrayed Alexei Judin gets drunk and challenges his friend Philip to a duel.

Ex-friends faced the night with three cartridges, two of them blank and double-barreled gun. The fate willed to give ball-cartridge to defrauded Alexei. Will he shoot? Who? Shoot himself? Shoot Mahov?
